IT IS TIME TO PAINT
GO AHEAD, NOW YOU CAN PAINT!
Cottage Paint is easy to use, even if you are just beginning the incredible experience of painting. However, there are some tricks of the trade that will make the job effortless, enjoyable, and will guarantee the best possible outcome:
Preparing your surface and selecting the right tools are success factors.
- Load your brush with enough paint so you don’t have to stop the strokes to reload it (these marks may show eventually).
- Always paint, varnish, and prime in the same direction. If you are painting wood, do it in the same direction as the wood´s grain.
- To spread paint evenly, apply more pressure initially. But once the area is covered, finish it from one end to the other, applying only the brush’s weight.
- If you are using a roller, feather the paint with a brush immediately after applying.
- Two coats are better than one, because they increase the durability of the paint.
- The benefits of letting the paint dry completely:
- Once the first coat dries, areas with thinner coverage will show up. A second coat does the job.
- The cure time will decrease if you let the paint dry longer between coats. This means you will be able to use the object quicker without damaging the finish.
Some colours can be challenging to paint with. Bright red, yellow, and blue are known to be weaker pigments. To pop the colour or mask its transparency, you may need some tricks:
- When using intense bright colours, first apply a coat of white paint.
- When using deep colors, first apply a coat of black paint.
